Excerpt – Second Edition of TRUTH OR CONSEQUENCES: The Church in a Rearview Mirror
“God revealed through the prophet, Isaiah, that He would accomplish His purpose. “I am God, and there is none like me, declaring the end from the beginning and from ancient times things not yet done, saying, ‘My council shall stand, and I will accomplish all my purpose,’…(Isaiah 46:9-10).” God allows man free will but also allows man to reap the consequences of his word, action and disobedience. Every incident of God’s wrath recorded in the Bible is the result of sin and man choosing his own path and reaping the consequences. These same principles are true today.the_content() Israel had been warned prior to their establishment as a nation of the consequences of spurning God’s laws. Consequences, as described in Deuteronomy 28:
“If you are not careful to do all the words of this law which are written in this book, that you may fear this glorious and fearful name, The LORD [YHVH] your God, then the LORD will bring on you and your offspring extraordinary afflictions, afflictions severe and lasting, and sicknesses grievous and lasting. And He will bring upon you again all the diseases of Egypt, which you were afraid of; and they shall cleave to you. Every sickness also, and every affliction which is not recorded in the book of this law, the LORD will bring upon you until you are destroyed.”
“See also Deuteronomy 29, and Leviticus 26.
“These are some pretty serious consequences! The United States Government and the Supreme Court has been and is increasingly in a state of rebellion against God’s word, i.e., removing prayer and the Bible from schools, Roe v. Wade, and the recent ruling on same-sex marriage. And much of the Church is complacent, or worse, complicit. Could the curses described in this scripture, and perhaps something even worse, be in store for the Church and society in the U.S., as well? Without repentance, it is very probable.”
