Rosenberg: Prepare churches for inevitable

February 13, 2012
By Joni B. Hannigan, Managing Editor, Florida Baptist Witness

JACKSONVILLE (FBW)—The handwriting is on the wall and war between Iran and Israel is imminent, Joel Rosenberg, an evangelical Christian and New York Times best-selling author, told the last session of the First Baptist Jacksonville Pastors’ Conference Jan. 29.

“War is coming,” Rosenberg said. “You and I are living in an extraordinary moment in one of the most dangerous moments in the history of our country; one of the most dangerous moments in the history of Israel and the Middle East; and one of the most dangerous moments in the history of the church.”

And the question is, “Are we ready for what could be coming?”

The popular writer, who grew up with a Jewish father and a gentile mother, shared lessons from Daniel 5 on the future of America and the coming war in the Middle East.

Rosenberg, whose newest book Implosion: Can American Recover from our Economic and Spiritual Challenges in Time is set for release in June, said many pastors are unwilling to speak about the future in terms of Bible prophecy.

For some it’s because prophecy has been “sensationalized” in the past and they resist the “cheapening of God’s Word,” he said. Others might feel unprepared. Some have simply forgotten its power.

“Prophecy is an intercept from the mind of an all-knowing and all-seeing and all powerful God,” he said. It is meant to inspire, motivate and encourage. It will lead to repentance, holiness, and prayer and fasting, Rosenberg said, adding that prophecy is about the “preaching of the Gospel, making of disciples, planting churches, reaching young people with the Gospel, [and] reaching all people with the Gospel.”

Speaking on “The pastor and his future,” Rosenberg asked pastors, “What is it that God is calling you and your congregation to do?”

Sharing examples of escalating tensions in the Middle East and rejecting “replacement theology,” Rosenberg said the physical state of Israel is the Israel about which the Bible refers. “God is not done with us, He loves us, He has a plan for us,” Rosenberg said. “God so loves the world, the whole world, that He gave His only begotten Son.”

After a recent trip to the concentration camp at Auschwitz, Rosenberg said he was reminded “bombs can do in six minutes what it took Adolph Hitler about six years to do; to kill six million Jews.”

The church needs to teach Bible prophecy he said. Bible passages like Ezekiel 38-39, Jeremiah 49, and the book of Joel. “God is going to use a whole series of events ultimately for His glory, but in the meantime, the church has got to ask ourselves, ‘Are we just gonna be silent? Are we just gonna act like nothing’s happened? … Or we don’t care?’”

BY GIULIO MEOTTI, ARUTZ 7—

Next March,  the Bible College in Bethlehem will host dozens of US theologians, activists and ministries for the “Christ at the Checkpoint 2012 Conference”.

It is to be a major religious and political event meant to demonize Israel and to support the Palestinian Intifada against the “ethnocentric” Jewish State.

The impressive range of Christian theologians and pastors from many churches located in the United States make the gravity of the upcoming conference clear.

Samuel Rodriguez, President of the US National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference, is a speaker.

Also attending are popular US preacher and “spiritual adviser” to Bill Clinton, Tony Campolo, and President of the World Evangelical Alliance and Asia Evangelical Alliance, Sang-Bok David Kim.

GBTV’s S.E. Cupp takes a revealing look at the growing antisemitism on the American college campus

The video focuses on two students who helped the Freedom Center put up the “Palestinian Wall of Lies” last year.

We first saw this clip on GBTV.  If any of you are wondering why you don’t see Glen Beck on Fox News anymore, it’s because he has his own TV Show on the internet now…where he can deliver his message with no censorship.  You can catch him every day at the usual time, 5 pm ET, on gbtv.com.

Israel – dividing the Church, or defining it?

We hope you will read this article in its entirety!  If you are a believer, you have only one of two choices available to you in regard to your “position” on Israel.  Click on the link below to go to the full article…which comes to us through the Jerusalem Connection website.   There are Christians for Israel and Christians against Israel….which one are you?

Be sure to read the comments at the end.  We are in agreement with one who said, “The division within the church flows from that masterful 4th Century Constantinian deception. A wise person would seek out the Hebrew roots of his/her faith, and rely totally on God’s Word to guide/direct/instruct your “faith walk”.”

Israel – dividing the Church, or defining it?

Posted on November 30, 2011 by Jerusalem Connection

Stan Goodenough – Jerusalem Newswire

Then the Lord said, “Hear what the unjust judge said. And shall God not avenge His own elect who cry out day and night to Him, though He bears long with them? I tell you that He will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will He really find faith on the earth?” (Luke 18:6-8)

The question could hardly have graver consequences and so is not easily asked. But it is hanging right out there and, with increasing stridency, demanding a response.

Is the issue of Israel (the people and the land) – whether we stand with or against it – ultimately creating irreversible division in the world wide Christian community?

To take it even further:

Will great numbers of people who consider themselves Christians one day find that, by choosing to side with the nations against Israel, they in fact joined with the Enemy’s camp against the very Lord they profess to love?

Or will great numbers of people who consider themselves Christians one day discover that, by standing with Israel in the face of incessant international censure of the Jewish state, they have allowed themselves to be deceived, have forgotten what Christianity is really all about, and have aided and abetted a rogue regime in criminally abusing its foes?

The matter cannot be avoided, for a deep – and ever deepening – schism in Christianity already exists concerning it.

And it is set to fracture more.

The UN’s International Day of Solidarity Against the Jews

The UN’s International Day of Solidarity Against the Jews

Posted by Joseph Klein Bio ↓ on Nov 29th, 2011

There is no single issue on which the United Nations expends more time and energy than its advocacy of the Palestinian cause. It dominates the agendas of various UN bodies, supported by American taxpayer dollars, including the UN Human Rights Council, the Division for Palestinian Rights, the Special Committee to Investigate Israeli Human Rights Practices Affecting the Palestinian People and Other Arabs of the Occupied Territories, the Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People, and the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees.

The UN’s obsession over Palestine has led to the world body’s repudiation of its own original two-state solution, spurned by all of the Arab countries and the Palestinians themselves back in 1947.

Beginning in 1977, the United Nations has sponsored the “International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People” on November 29th, the date in 1947 when the UN General Assembly approved its Palestine partition resolution. Former UN Secretary General Kofi Annan called November 29th a “day of mourning and a day of grief.” The event takes place every year at UN headquarters in New York and at the UN Offices at Geneva and Vienna and elsewhere.

In other words, every November 29th, the United Nations publicly mourns the passage of its own peaceful solution to the Arab-Jewish dispute, which had called for the establishment of an independent Arab state and independent Jewish state. Every year the UN commiserates over the adoption by the General Assembly of the 1947 partition resolution under which the Palestinians could have been living in their own independent state for the last sixty-four years if the Arabs had only accepted it. Even Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas has conceded that the Arabs’ rejection of the partition resolution was a big mistake, but the day of mourning and grief over the Palestinians’ self-inflicted wounds go on anyway at the United Nations.

America’s Presbyterian Church increasingly anti-Israel, anti-Semitic

US church versus Israel

Ynetnews special: America’s Presbyterian Church increasingly anti-Israel, anti-Semitic

By Giulio Meotti
Published:

Most of America’s presidents since James Madison were members of the Presbyterian Church. It has the reputation of being the wealthiest and most mainstream among US churches. Presbyterians gave to the United States dozens of presidents, Supreme Court justices, secretaries of state (Condoleezza Rice is daughter of a Presbyterian priest,) cabinet officials and members of Congress. Even pastor Billy Graham, known as “the ear of US presidents,” has been a dedicated Presbyterian.

However, in recent years, the US church appeared in the headlines for a virulent anti-Israel campaign in which money, theology and politics are mixed together.

Pro-Palestinian activists, allied with anti-Jewish Protestant zealots, won a victory in 2004 when the church divested its $8 billion portfolio from companies doing business with Israel. A few days ago the Presbyterians and three other US Protestant denominations endorsed the Palestinian UN bid for statehood.

Meanwhile, the church just hold a conference in Louisville titled “Bible, Land and our Theological Challenge”. It embraced the “Kairos Document,” which says that Israeli security policies are “a sin against God”, likens the security fence to “apartheid”, rejects the Jewish State, supports terrorism when it talks about the “thousands of prisoners who languish in Israeli jails”, and proclaims that “resistance to the evil of occupation is a Christian’s right and duty.”

Star of David Carved on Infidel’s Back in St. Louis

Star of David Carved on Infidel’s Back in St. Louis

A certain Arab author by the name of Mr. Alaa Alsaegh, an immigrant to the U.S. from Iraq, was attacked on August 14, 2011, by Muslims in the streets of St. Louis, Missouri. They stabbed him and carved a Star of David onto the flesh of his back. His crime? He published an Arabic language poem titled “Tears at the Heart of the Holocaust” on the website ArabsForIsrael.com. The poem expressed his love for the Jewish people and his sorrow over their fate in the Holocaust. The Muslim community in which he lived was outraged by this thought crime. He was called an infidel and received many threats for articulating his taboo feelings for the Jewish people. Alienated from the Muslim community, he continued to write his poetry, which contained the same themes which so upset his fellow Muslims.

In broad daylight and heavy traffic on Aug. 14, Alsaegh paid the price for expressing love for the Jews. And it happened in the streets of St. Louis, right here in the heart of America. Author and courageous freedom fighter Nonie Darwish describes the horrific event:

As he was driving at 10:30 in the morning on Compton St. near Park Ave., a small white car cut him off and hit his car, while another car stopped behind him. The occupants of the cars, some of whom wore security guard-type uniforms, quickly entered Alsaegh’s car, pointing a gun at him. They pushed his upper body down against the steering wheel, stabbed him and pulled off his shirt to expose his back. Then, with a knife, they carved the Star of David on his back while laughing as they recited his pro-Jewish poem.

Alsaegh thought that the perpetrators were Somalis; he was taken to the hospital and the photo of his injury was taken there.

The FBI has concluded that this was a hate crime. Question: apart from the Nonie Darwish article, and a handful of other reports, where exactly is this horrific story of Sharia street justice in America being reported? It is nowhere in the media.

1st Amendment under Muslim Brotherhood attack

The following is a copy of an email we received from Joseph Farah, of World Net Daily.  We simply MUST pay attention to what is happening in this country.

1st Amendment under
Muslim Brotherhood attack

I don’t know how to state this any more plainly: Americans are in danger of losing their precious free-speech rights guaranteed under the First Amendment due to pressure and intimidation by the Muslim Brotherhood.I know we have severe economic problems in this country.I know we have a crisis in leadership at the very top.I know the culture that has bound the nation together for 230 years is eroding because of illegal immigration and moral relativism and deliberate government policies.I know all this and more, and I write about it regularly.

Click here to learn what you can do to fight back.

But there is a threat to free expression in this country so severe it threatens our most basic civil liberties – and it is happening practically unnoticed by the very people who will need to stand up and stop it before it is too late.

Here’s just one example of literally thousands I could cite: Pamela Geller, the courageous WND columnist and author of “Stop the Islamization of America” was invited by a tea-party group to speak to a gathering at a Hyatt hotel last week in Sugar Land, Texas. But, as happens increasingly with such events, the hotel abruptly canceled the event at the last minute because of intimidation from the “Muslim Mafia” – and I use that term advisedly.

Think about why a hotel might cancel such an event.

Is it because it fears losing business from moderate Muslims? How many moderate Muslims do you think there are in Sugar Land, Texas?

Or was it another kind of threat the hotel feared? And, if that’s the case, it demonstrates that the coercive power of Islamic terrorism is working inside America – creating a chilling effect on discussion of what is a very real and growing threat to our most cherished liberties.

Fortunately for the tea-party group and Geller, they were able to find an alternative venue at the last minute. But that is not always the case. In other words, the “Muslim Mafia” is winning – slowly, but surely, in imposing a kind of soft Shariah law on American society through fear and intimidation.

“Free speech, the cornerstone of our constitutional republic, is in serious jeopardy,” Geller said. “Under the Shariah, criticism of Islam is blasphemy (punishable by death in Muslim countries). This is the death of free speech in the continuing Islamization of America.”

If you doubt what I am saying and what Geller is saying, just listen to the response from Jamie Zimmerman at Hyatt’s corporate headquarters: “In light of the business disruptions anticipated with this event, it has been moved to an alternate location. The hotel thanks the organizers of the event for their cooperation in relocating the event.”

The company refused to answer the question posed by WND: “Is Hyatt Place Houston aware that CAIR – the Council on American-Islamic Relations – is tied to Hamas, the Muslim Brotherhood and other Islamic terror organizations, according to federal prosecutors and the FBI, and has been judged in federal court to be a co-conspirator in funding terrorism?”

And why do I use the term “Muslim Mafia”? Because that’s how the Muslim Brotherhood refers to itself, as explained in the breakthrough book, “Muslim Mafia: Inside the Secret Underworld That’s Conspiring to Islamize America.”

Again, I know there are many pressing issues facing all Americans – concerns that deal directly with our ability to maintain a self-governing nation and a culture respecting and reflecting the rule of law and our heritage of liberty.

We must not, however, overlook the creeping threat Islamism poses through stealth jihad and the imposition of Shariah in our national debate. It’s real. It needs to be resisted at all costs. WND is taking it on in an expensive legal fight right now through its defense of David and Chris Gaubatz, whose penetration of the Council of American-Islamic Relations is being challenged by that Muslim Brotherhood front in a major U.S. court case right now. It’s a lawsuit that is likely to cost millions, and I could sure use the financial and prayer support of Americans who understand the stakes. If you can donate at least $25, WND will send you a copy of “Muslim Mafia,” which we hope you will share and utilize in the education of more Americans as to the threat we face.

Update from Gene & LaVada – November 2011

Howdy, from Gene & LaVada!

Can’t believe it’s November already!  It doesn’t seem that long since we were in beautiful Colorado at Bear Trax Ranch celebrating Sukkot…the Feast of Tabernacles.  Shown here is a picture of the Sukkah from last year with the fire pit in the foreground.  Hopefully, I’ll get some pictures from this year uploaded soon.

I cannot adequately describe the joy we experienced in  getting together with friends, who seem more like ‘family’, to participate in this “appointed time” as instructed in Leviticus 23:34 (NASB)… “Speak unto the children of Israel, saying , The fifteenth day of this seventh month shall be the feast of tabernacles for seven days unto the LORD.”

[Hover over scripture reference to see complete verse.]

In fact, did you know that these feasts were given by our Father in Heaven, to Moses, “as a statute forever in your generations.”  (Lev. 23:41 NASB) The Feast of Tabernacles is to serve as a “reminder” that the Children of Israel slept in “booths” or tents (temporary dwellings) as they traveled through the wilderness after God (Elohim) delivered  them from bondage in Egypt. It is the Father’s way of teaching us to depend on Him for everything!  And what a fun way to learn and teach our own children!   We hope you will do some ‘biblical investigation’ on your own and find out about these “Feasts of the LORD”.  As born again believers in Jesus (Yeshua, in Hebrew), we are “grafted in” to the Olive Tree (Israel) whose root is the Messiah, Yeshua/Jesus!  (Romans 11:17 NASB)

If you have questions about the Feasts of the LORD or the Hebrew Roots of your faith in Jesus Christ (Yeshua ha Mashiach), please contact us or check out our website. (http://www.menorahmusic.com/ ) We have many resources available for further research that we would like to share with you!  Also, check out the links on the right sidebar of this blog for several resources there.

We had a great time with the folks at Kendalia Community Church recently….shared some of our songs and Gene gave a stimulating message on, Our Purpose Should Be to Grow in His Word.   He told us that God is eternal, He does not change (Malachi 3:6); that Jesus/Yeshua was ‘in the beginning’ (John 1:1) and He tells us ‘the end from the beginning’ (Isaiah 46:9-10).  He talked about being in the Last Days and watching prophecy unfold before our eyes in the Daily News Headlines, mentioning 2 Peter 3:8-9 (NASB) and Joel 3:1-2 (NASB). We need to know and understand our connection with Israel and pray for and support the “Apple of God’s Eye”!!

Don’t forget to stay updated on our Israel, World News and The Church blog page for news that you most likely will not get on your cable news network.

We leave you with this…

“I AM the Way, and the Truth and the Life; no one comes to the Father except through me.”  (John 14:6)

The Torah/Law is the Way – Isaiah 2:3; Psalm 119:1; Proverbs 6:23
The Torah/Law is the Truth – Psalm 119:142; Romans 2:20
The Torah/Law is Life – Proverbs 6:23; Psalm 19:7 (NASB)  [“soul”=Nephesh: “life”]

Blessings and shalom,
