You have your truth and I have my truth, right?
He has his truth and she has her truth… It’s all good, right? Let’s just don’t get in each other’s way, right? Live…and let live?
That may be your philosophy. And, it might even work, if every person on the planet agrees with you and lives it out. But, tell me, what are the odds of that?
There must be a “standard.”
Who decides what that “standard” is? If you think you can set your own standard, then you are setting yourself up as your own “God.” Good luck with that!
So… what is truth?
Your justice is righteousness forever, and Your Torah [instructions] is truth.Psalm 119:142
Make them holy [set apart] in the truth. Your word is truth.John 17:17
In the beginning was the Word. The Word was with God, and the Word was God.John 1:1-3;14
He was with God in the beginning.
All things were made through Him, and apart from Him nothing was made that has come into being.
And the Word became flesh and tabernacled among us. We looked upon His glory, the glory of the one and only from the Father, full of grace and truth.
I guess it all boils down to whether or not one wants to consider that there really is a Creator God of the Universe…He really did give His “Word” to His prophets, who wrote it all down thousands of years ago and we still have it today (the Hebrew Scriptures, erroneously referred to as the “Old” Testament)…He sent His Living Word in human form, as John 1:14 said two thousand years ago, and we still have written accounts of that.
No one is “forced” to believe in the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. We are given free will. Take it, or leave it. He tells us what our life will be like if we believe and obey, and what our life will be like if we don’t. (Deuteronomy 28 & 29) Choose life, He said! (Deuteronomy 30:19)
The thing is…we have to humble ourselves! Ooooh! It’s hard to be humble! We have to admit that He is God and we are not! WE are not! HE sets the standard! We do not! And the standard is the Torah…His “instructions.”
“If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.John 14:15
