{"id":1075,"date":"2016-06-26T15:07:36","date_gmt":"2016-06-26T20:07:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/menorahmusic.com\/wp\/?p=1075"},"modified":"2016-06-27T18:36:45","modified_gmt":"2016-06-27T23:36:45","slug":"1075","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/menorahmusic.com\/wp\/2016\/06\/26\/1075\/","title":{"rendered":"TRUTH OR CONSEQUENCES&#8230; a book review by Pete Rambo"},"content":{"rendered":"<blockquote><p><strong>TRUTH OR CONSEQUENCES: The Church in a Review<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Review by Pete Rambo<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>For some weeks, I have had a new book laying on my nightstand, but time as not been available to read it until yesterday.\u00a0 Gene Triesch\u2019s Second Edition\u00a0<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/TRUTH-CONSEQUENCES-Church-Rearview-Mirror\/dp\/0692602488\/ref=tmm_pap_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&amp;qid=1466949189&amp;sr=8-5\" target=\"_blank\">Truth or Consequences:\u00a0<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/natsab.files.wordpress.com\/2016\/06\/truth-or-consequences.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-6591 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/natsab.files.wordpress.com\/2016\/06\/truth-or-consequences.jpg?w=195&#038;h=300&#038;resize=195%2C300\" alt=\"Truth or Consequences\" width=\"195\" height=\"300\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/a><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">The Church in a Rearview Mirror<\/span>\u00a0<em>is a terrific second book for the Truth seeker. (My best recommendation for\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/natsab.com\/2015\/04\/22\/book-review-christianity-reconsidered\/\" target=\"_blank\">first book is here<\/a>.)\u00a0 Available in paperback and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/TRUTH-CONSEQUENCES-Church-Rearview-Mirror-ebook\/dp\/B01867UABW\/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1466949189&amp;sr=8-5&amp;keywords=triesch\" target=\"_blank\">for Kindle<\/a>, I recommend this book as a solid general overview of the history of, and a brief articulate case for the future of, Israel.<\/em><\/p>\n<div id=\"article\">\n<div class=\"page\">\n<p><em>Chapter six begins with a great summary paragraph for the whole book,<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"article\">\n<div class=\"page\">\n<p><em>As I stated in the Foreword, the primary focus of this book is to emphasize the scriptural basis for Israel\u2019s right to the land of Israel and to expose the error in the anti-Semitic teachings of the Church.\u00a0 At the root of the divide between Jews and Christians is the Christian lack of understanding and practice of God\u2019s Law, which has been handed down through the teachings and traditions of the Church.\u00a0 Because of and across the divide, there is separation, which often results in enmity.\u00a0 Much of the discord between Jews and Christians with regard to the Messiah is attributable to the Christian understanding of Paul\u2019s writings and their inclination to minimize the importance of the Old Testament.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"article\">\n<div class=\"page\">\n<p><em>Besides considerable Scriptural quotes to make his case, Triesch offers many historical insights.\u00a0 He cites from a broad number of sources within mainstrean Christianity as well as many contemporary Jewish, Messianic and Hebrew roots resources.\u00a0 His case is well made in 200+ pages that could easily be expanded to thousands.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>I especially enjoyed chapter nine,\u00a0Modern Israel: The \u201cBully\u201d of the Middle East?\u00a0\u00a0 Triesch does a fine job of introducing the complexity of the current Israeli situation and the ludicrous nature of world media\u2019s claim that Israel is the problem.\u00a0 He provides a thumbnail sketch of the last hundred years and how the unfolding of Arab oil influence has affected politics, media and ultimately negative public opinion of Israel, and opinion that is grossly undeserved and solidly anti-Biblical.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Of additional interest in the book are various \u2018Personal Notes\u2026\u2019 and side bars with interesting additional information, stories and vignettes.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>A personal, albeit minor, quibble in the book would be Triesch using Hebrews 8:13 in uncorrected format to make a point regarding the old and new covenant, stone v. heart.\u00a0 I just know I have written about translator error in this verse, but cannot for the life of me find the post right now.\u00a0 The fact is, the word \u2018covenant\u2019\u00a0does not appear in any Greek manuscript for this verse\u00a0and as Triesch previous and correctly pointed out on the previous page, \u2018<strong>the fault was with them<\/strong>,\u2019 and I maintain as Triesch agrees that the subject of this section of Hebrews is the Priesthood, not the Covenant.\u00a0 Maybe I need to add to my\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/natsab.com\/?s=lying+pen+of+the+scribes\" target=\"_blank\">Lying Pen of the Scribes<\/a>\u00a0series to address this verse since I can\u2019t find that post\u2026\u00a0 Hmmm.\u00a0 Bottom-line, his point stands, but Hebrews 8:13 is not speaking about the covenant.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>I do recommend this book to all, but especially those who need a solid retooling of errant Church tradition that minimizes the importance of Israel in present and future history and prophecy.\u00a0 Order a copy for yourself and one to give away!!<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Blessings.<\/em><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/natsab.com\/2016\/06\/26\/truth-or-consequences-the-church-in-a-rearview-mirror\/?c=12603#comment-12603\" target=\"_blank\">Click here to read complete review<\/a>&#8230;
